About US Radar
Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Innovators
US Radar is a pioneer and innovator of ground penetrating radar (GPR) systems. Among these achievements include the world’s first true triple-frequency antenna and the first dual-frequency concrete scanner.
Looking for something buried underground? Behind a concrete wall? GPR provides a fast, nondestructive solution to see beyond these barriers without needing to break through them. Systems like our triple frequency GPRover Mapping System or Quantum Mini Concrete Scanner can help you define what you can’t see with the naked eye.
History of GPR Technology
Ground Penetrating Radar technology was pioneered by ERA Technology of Leatherhead, Surrey, England, in the 1980s to locate plastic landmines as part of a British Ministry of Defense contract. GPR innovation became a key factor in reducing the risk of locating dangerous, time-delayed bombs by imaging through rubble and deep subsurface. Due to these early systems’ success, commercial versions were developed in 1990. These versions incorporated improvements designed to make the products more user-friendly and accessible to a broader customer base.
US Radar was formed in 1994 as a commercial market introduction partner for ERA Technology. The company’s original mission was to promote and distribute the Seeker SPR technology, determine and test new applications, and identify and implement product improvements.
In 2002, US Radar acquired complete manufacturing and engineering capabilities as well as worldwide customer marketing, support, and service from ERA Technology. Since then, the company has developed numerous product and software innovations and continues to do so based on global customer feedback.
